Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has extended his contract with the North London club until at least the end of the 2014/15 season.
Former Ireland international McCall joined Sarries as first team coach back in 2009 and assumed charge of the side since 2011 when Brendan Venter moved into the role of technical director. He helped steer Sarries to back-to-back Premiership finals in his first two seasons at the club with the latter resulting in an historic first title.
This season, Saracens are still on course for a Premiership play-offs qualification – they currently sit in second place behind Harlequins – and are also in strong position for an Heineken quarter-finals qualification leading Racing Metro and Munster in pool 1.
Saracens chairman Nigel Wray said: “Mark has provided outstanding service for the past three and a half years, and we are delighted he has agreed to continue his excellent work. He leads a strong and talented coaching team with great skill and fantastic commitment, and we are very confident he will continue to guide and inspire the development of the squad.”
In the meantime, most of the back room staff – forward coaches Paul Gustard and Alex Sanderson, backs coach Kevin Sorrell and kicking coach Dan Vickers – followed suit and will remain at the club until June 2015.
