Sports lovers are usually eagerly waiting for world cup tournaments. 2023 tickets are in demand as the union tournament is the upcoming big event in the sports circle.

Rugby football is most commonly called rugby or rugger. Individuals have been playing rugby in different eras and localities, under variable rules, and the shape of the ball also varies. In the modern world, there are two main types of rugby in practice; rugby union and rugby league.

Both types are similar to one another, but both have different sets of rules. The big difference is in the regulations that apply to injured players.

Rugby union is the national sport of many countries, including New Zealand, Fiji, Wales, Tonga, Madagascar, and . The Rugby World Cup 2023 is a rugger men union tournament. The people in , Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, and northern England often play rugby league.

Methods To Play Rugby

Two teams consisting of fifteen individuals each play against each other for eighty minutes during the match. The goal is to score as many points as possible and outnumber the score of the opponent team. During the playing time, score-points are obtained by scoring tries or kicking goals through the oval ball.

There is a field goal shaped like the letter “H” made out of poles at each end of the playing ground. In the playing field, there is an in-goal region, and players are required to hit the ball and make it to the top of the in-goal site of the opposing team to score a goal.

There are three ways to score, but it is essential to pass the ball in the backward direction. Players can run while carrying the ball and kick it too, but they can only move it to someone from their team present in the backward direction.

For scoring a try the team gets 5 points. When a team after scoring a try kicks the ball through the in-goal region and does a successful conversion, it achieves two additional points.

A team obtains three points if they get a penalty, and they successfully make it through the goal post by kicking the ball. When a team does a dropkick they achieve three points. A dropkick is a term for a playing strategy where the player holding the ball drops the ball onto the ground and then kicks it through the goal post.

Jhony Wilkinson is famous for his drop kick which he performed in the against Australia, in the 2003 World Cup. His dropkick contributed to England winning the World Cup in 2003.

Beginning The Play

Rugger play starts when a player from one team kicks the ball from the midway line towards the opponent team’s in-goal field. The players continue to play until a try is scored, the ball crosses the dead ball line or sideline, or an infringement occurs. Players can run by carrying the ball or kick it and pass it to the other teammates. The player carrying the ball must not move it to a team member closer to the opponent team’s goal.

A team can get an opportunity to score a goal after scoring a try. To score a try, players manage to touch the ball they are carrying to the ground on or beyond the opposing team’s in-goal region. After a successful trial, the team with the try has the chance to kick a goal. This scenario is called conversion kick and is equivalent to two points scoring additional to the two points of the try.

In rugby union, a try gives the team five points, but in rugby league, a try is equivalent to four score-points. The opposing team can only tackle the player carrying the ball below the neck. The team with the highest score wins the match.
