England U20s will feel grateful to have Ioan Jones in their ranks as the full-back could easily have opted for Wales, or turned to football. The 19-year-old Gloucester back grew up playing football as a central midfielder and was in the academies of established Championship sides West Brom and Reading before influence from his rugby obsessed father turned him towards the oval ball at U12s.
Jones started out at Minchinhampton RFC before being picked up by Gloucester’s development pathway programme and has since progressed from the academy into the first team squad.
