With an ageing front row, England are crying out for youthful props who can go toe to toe with the world’s best scrummagers and in U20s forward Asher Opoku-Fordjour they may have just that.
Scrummaging had appeared to have gone out of fashion in recent years with props’ highlight reels largely containing dominant carries rather than their work at the set piece.
However, 19-year-old Sale prop Opoku-Fordjour, who is 6ft 1in, over 18st and can pack down on both sides of the scrum, says it’s the most important part of the game.
