Diagram shows how difficult it is to tackle head-on

THE RFU are of course totally correct in their desire to improve and “make safe” tackling techniques at grassroots and junior rugby but it does sometimes complicate things with their attempts to explain what is and isn’t legal when tackling an opponent front on.
Witness recently this graphic, below, which was sent out with an RFU circular on the subject. In fairness, it has been hurriedly withdrawn but in its own way it does illustrate what a tricky area we are dealing with.
