One of the more unusual modern days rugby stories is currently playing out in Israel where Tel Aviv Heat are proving an unlikely success barely a year into their existence.
The Heat came into being to compete in the rather grandly named European Super Cup, a sort of European Cup for the T2 nations. It’s small beer at present with just eight teams but offers an opportunity in the autumn for franchises from Georgia, Portugal, Spain and Romania to compete at a level somewhere between club and Test rugby.
