Occasionally, I question the value of Sevens in the bigger scheme of things, and that’s coming from a lifelong fan who has spent more happy days than is decent watching and reporting on various tournaments.
Is it, when push comes to shove, just a sop to the small nations? Does it really attract new players and fans? Is there actually any meaningful correlation anymore between the Sevens game and the full 15-a-side? Why do some of the big boys not really engage anymore?
