1. Ice baths
I had my first ice for a good few years on the recent Counties tour of and I can’t say it was an enjoyable experience. I’d forgotten how tortuous they are. It was sad to see grown men crumble at the mention and sight of one.
TRP verdict: You’ve gone from England Counties hero to zero degrees. Sorry you’ve been frozen out.
2. Man versus machine
I’ve travelled quite a lot recently, to Canada and then Antigua, which has brought the new passport scanning machines to my attention. They are supposed to speed up the process of going through border control but more often than not they’re not working or the people attempting to use them don’t know how to and you find yourself getting held up. Normally you just end up queuing up again and going down the old fashioned route of showing your passport to a grumpy, stern-looking official.
TRP verdict: On close inspection, you’re right!
3. Roulette roundabouts
A lot of people on the road seem to think their fellow drivers are mind readers … they must do otherwise why don’t they indicate when going around a roundabout? It’s not that hard to flick on your indicator, is it!? This is matched by middle lane hoggers, whose steering lock seems to come on when they hit the middle lane on the motorway and they find it hard to move back to the inside lane.
TRP verdict: Feel like you’re going around in circles, hey? It’s time for us to square up to the truth and admit you’re right on this one too.
