I’m a bit of a coffee connoisseur, I drink it regularly and even had my coffee machine shipped over from Australia. I tend to go for a long black over here whereas back home my favourite is a Piccolo – basically a miniature latte. The only thing worse than a bad coffee is coffee breath. I’m always conscious about it and try to clean my teeth whenever possible straight after drinking a cup.
TRP verdict: Sorry old bean, instant coffee does the job for me.
2. Mess
Everyone jokes at London Irish that I have OCD because I like everything neat and tidy. I always sit in the same spot and my training gear is always folded away neatly in the locker. I even have my shirts graded from light to dark in my wardrobe back home. Post-match you’ll find me sweeping the changing room floor. Matt Symonds is the polar opposite to me; he is an absolute grub. His is so large and his stuff just gets everywhere.
TRP verdict: A tidy choice … as they say in Wales
3. Wind
As an avid golfer, wind is bad news. My game always goes pear-shaped as soon as it starts to blow. At Irish, we train on an old nine-hole golf course. Because it’s so exposed and the wind howls from end-to-end, we often have to train sideways across the pitch to counter it.
TRP verdict: Good job you never played with Ben Breeze, the ex-Bristol wing! You’re in.
