1. Mobile phone signals
Okay, being born and living in Cornwall clearly has its plusses, including appreciation of the county‘s beautiful countryside and coast, as viewers of ‘Poldark’ will confirm! However, although we might be considered to be ‘backwoodsmen’ by some, the delivery of mobile signals and improved internet speeds are still a need for all. Hey, we pay for the same service and things will no doubt improve, because we don’t always want to do things dreckly! (a slow pace of life)
TRP verdict: A good reception is assured in Room 101
2. Fickle supporters & rugby ‘experts’
It’s great that popularity in our sport is growing, but there are groups of ‘supporters’ who proclaim to be passionate followers of the game, when we know that many only get on a bandwagon when a team is enjoying success. They are right in your face when you are winning, but lose a few games and they soon drop off. All are also, of course, ‘experts’. Really? Being polite is natural for most players and maintains a sense of good sportsmanship, but sometimes you have to bite your tongue!
TRP verdict: You’ve ‘fanned’ the flames with this one!
3. Lack of honesty from the top
Far too often we are short changed by our politicians, and others in high office, whether it be in health, education, or policing. Consider crime, for example. Police chiefs regularly come up with reports that crime figures are down, when in likely all cases such statements are totally misleading. Reporting crime is important, but trying to get through to someone is anything but easy. Police stations are closed, the public get fed up waiting for telephones to be answered, and there are others who live in fear of reporting crime – even in Cornwall!
TRP verdict: Fed-up? There’s no need to make such a Fuzz about it!
