1.Reality TV
I just can’t stand it. The likes of Big Brother and X-Factor have had so much screen time over the past few years and there are all the spin-off shows as well. The worst part of it is that it gives screen time to people who have no discernible talent whatsoever. The only people who would be worse off if these programmes didn’t exist are the ones who benefit financially from them – mentioning no names…
TRP verdict: You get our vote. How about Prop Idol?
2.Middle lane drivers
You see this every single time you drive on the motorway – someone just sat there in the middle lane when the inside lane is completely empty. People seem to forget that you’re supposed to drive in the inside lane unless you’re overtaking. There’s no such thing as the ‘fast lane’ for example. And when you overtake, you’re supposed to return to the left-hand lane as quickly as possible. Not so long ago, the police were given more powers to issue on the spot fines for things like middle lane hogging. But I’ve not heard of anyone being caught. It’s not just inconvenient – it creates congestion and reduces capacity.
TRP verdict: Oh, to be stuck in the middle (of a ) with you, that’s 2/2.
3.Bad Coffee
Anyone who knows me at all, knows that I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to my coffee. Not so very long ago in this country, it wasn’t easy to get a decent cup of coffee. However, recent years have seen numerous chains popping up all over the country and the standard has risen as a result. There is also huge choice of affordable machines which mean that it’s really easy to produce a good cup of coffee at home as well. So, I don’t why certain places still serve up something undrinkable!
TRP verdict: You’ve gone from café Nero to Zero. How can the invasion of American coffee chains to the High Street be a good thing?
