I’m quite OCD. I like everything to be neat and tidy so it winds me up when the kids or the missus leave stuff lying around the place. Silly little things like the dirty dishes being left out on the top and not put away in the dishwasher bother me. To be fair she has a good comeback in that she is looking after a three-and-a-half year-old and a four-month old child. When it comes to my kit, I fold it up whether it’s clean or dirty, which the boys find hilarious. Three or four of us sit in one corner and fortunately one of them, Tom Arscott, is similar to me in that he likes to have everything in its place.
TRP verdict: We’ll give Room 101 a good spring clean for you.
2. Random bad luck
This is going to sound ridiculous but because I’m old and battered from rugby I struggle to bend down and pick things up. And whenever I drop something, instead of it dropping right at my feet, it tends to roll away and end up under something in a really inaccessible place. If I’ve got the baby in my arms and the dummy pops out you can bet your life that it’ll hit the floor, defy the laws of physics and take a 90 degree detour and end up somewhere under the sofa. Rather than be an easy pick up, I’ll have to put the baby down, get on my hands and knees and go searching for the lost item. This seems to happen to me a lot; it’s never simple.
TRP verdict: You’ve sold us a dummy, that’s 2 out of 2.
3. TMOs
I agree with TMOs being introduced into the game, but I think they’re over-used. It seems that referees go to the TMO for every try, even if it is blatantly obvious everything is okay, rather than ones that are 50:50. For me it’s spoiling the game a little bit – in Union and League.
TRP verdict: No need to refer this, you’re in.
