London Wasps are travelling to Sandy Park tomorrow to face Exeter looking to carry on their good run of form against one of the toughest nut to crack at home.
If Tom Varndell is aware of the task ahead, he’s also confident the Men in Black can come back from Devon with points.
He told The Rugby Paper: “Since they’ve been promoted, they’ve have installed that winning culture at Sandy Park. They are a very good side and so we’re under no illusion about the task ahead.
“But we’re on a good run of form right now and we’re getting more and more confident about the style of rugby we’re trying to play.
“Saturday will be about doing just that. Play with confidence, try to score tries and see what comes out of it. It’s a great opportunity for us.”
Last week, Varndell, who scored his eighth try of the season in as many games, and his teammate claimed a 14-12 success against his old team, the Leicester Tigers, to remain in touch with the Top Six.
Wasps are definitely looking forward this year but it could look even better if it wasn’t for one or two close games they’ve lost.
He said: “Last week was pretty good for me and the team with me scoring a try and the team winning.
“It sets us nicely leading up to Christmas in the hunt for the Top Six but we’re also only six points away from Quins at the top.
“It’s nice to look in front of us compare to last year where we were constantly looking behind our shoulder.
“It’s very frustrating to lose close games. If we had won a couple more games like the one against Harlequins in the opening round we’d be Top of the table.”
