Berrick Barnes kicked a drop goal and a penalty for Australia but Toby Flood replied with three successful penalties to put England 9-6 in front on the half hour mark.
Then out of nowhere, Australia to the lead with a well taken counter attack try from winger Nick Cummins.
But they didn’t have time to enjoy the lead to long as England were back on the attack straight away and Manu Tuilagi dived over and the home side were leading 14-11 at the break.
Australia took a six-point lead with three penalties in the first ten minutes of the second half before England had a great opportunity to get back into the game.
They were awarded two penalties in quick succession but went for the lineout instead of taking the points on offer.
They left with nothing and despite pushing hard for the last 20 minutes, they couldn’t break the superb Wallabies‘ defensive line and had to concede the defeat.
