After the first five rounds, a clear transformation can be seen in how the Worcester Warriors play the game and for the first time ever, they go into a Premiership game on the back of two consecutive try bonus-points.
If head-coach Richard Hill admits it’s unusual, he is happy to see his players rewarded for their hard work.
He said: “The second half against Northampton was a turning point for the players.
“It proved that if they played with confidence and give it a go they can do great things.
“It’s very unusual for Worcester to score four tries in consecutive weeks but the players enjoy playing like that.
“It was good to believe we could do it but if the results don’t come the pressure can pile on so it’s a big weight off our shoulders.
“The only problem now is that people expect us to score four tries every game. This is not easy and we’re working very hard to get there.”
Worcester tried to play an attacking game in the past but as the results didn’t go their way, they went back to a more basic approach.
For Hill, cherry picking the type of players they wanted to play that game over the summer was crucial.
He added: “I think the difference this time around is that we brought in players that can play that game.
“It’s much easier to do it when the players are able to play that way rather than impose this style to players who clearly can’t.
“The likes of Dean Schofield and Josh Matavesi are key for us in that way.”
The Warriors travel to Adams Park on Sunday aware of Wasps‘ threat out wide but focused on their own game in a bid to secure their second win of the campaign.
Hill said: “It’s hard to know about Wasps. They can be very good or they can be off song. The blow hot and cold.
“But they can be lethal out wide with Christian Wade and Tom Varndell and have big ball carriers in Ashley Johnson and James Haskell.
“Saints did a great job on them in the set pieces to stop them getting quality ball on the back of it.
“So we’ll aim to do the same as Saints but we’ll concentrate on ourselves. If we keep playing like we did in the last game and half we’ll put ourselves in a good position.
“I think it will be a good game as both team want to play an attacking rugby.”
