2. Keven Mealamu – All Black legend who was at the top for many years. Always played with his heart on his sleeves and a gentleman off the field.
3. Karena Wihongi – Another great scrummager who’s very mobile. A great man to have in the team and always goes out of his way for his teammates. Our families spent a lot of time together in Castres.
4. Brad Thorn – It was an honour to play with him at Leicester last season. A record of 21 seasons and 17 major trophies in both rugby codes speak for itself. A legend!
5. Ifereimi Rawaqa – Very athletic around the field. Turned down Munster and Auckland Blues to play in Japan. I’ll always remember his 60-metre try against Wales in 2005.
6. George Smith – Very smart player and great at slowing the ball down. To be playing amazing rugby at 35 tells you a lot about how good he is.
7. Richie McCaw – Another legend of the game and like Brad his record speaks for itself. The most capped player of all time for a reason.
8. Nathan Hughes – A modern No.8 who can terrorise the opposition with his speed, power and offloading game. Has all it takes to become a world class player.
9. George Gregan – Such a great man on and off the field. Always punched above his weight and a great professional in the way he looked after himself.
10 .Dan Carter – The best fly-half in the history of the game. Excellent passing and kicking game, and tackles like a flanker. Best player in the world three times for a reason.
11. Jonah Lomu – The greatest player of all time. His ability to outpace or outpower anyone in front of him made him so formidable.
12. Rupeni Caucaunibuca – Did very well for himself despite growing up in a poor family. The best Fijian outside back of all time. If he had the professionalism of Richie or Dan he’d have been just like Jonah.
13. Brian O’Driscoll – An Irish legend and the best player of his generation. He had an outstanding career with club, country and the Lions.
14. Vilimoni Delasau – Like Rupeni he did very well to play with the best clubs in the world like Toulouse despite his tough upbringing. Deadly mix of speed and step.
15. Christian Cullen – He always amazed me with his speed and balance. Always looked calm ball in hand despite creating havoc in the opposition’s defence.
