2. Mark Jones – The Sale Shark has an unbelievable work rate at hooker. He never takes a step back and is great at scrummaging. What are Wales doing not picking him?
3. Davey Wilson – The scrum rarely goes backwards when he is pushing from tighthead. Not too shabby ball in hand either and can make a 20-metre break every now and again.
4. Dave Attwood – A very good lineout operator. He makes a lot of dominant tackles in defence and adds more weight to the scrum.
5. Dean Schofield – He was my captain at Sale. A very strong ball carrier who is quite quick for a big man. He’d be handy if a fight broke out as he would be able to sort it out.
6. Jason White – He hit so hard. Ouch. I remember watching him the season he won Player of the Year in 2006 and he was outstanding. One of my idols growing up along with Richard Hill.
7. Francois Louw – The best player I’ve seen at getting over the ball. He is always slowing down the breakdown if he hasn’t turned you over already.
8. Juan Martin Fernandez-Lobbe – The Pumas’ inspirational leader is a very skilful player who is always trying tricks like no- look passes during games. He is very good under the high balls, too.
9. Richard Wigglesworth – His box kicks are great. He has a very good pass, too, and like every good scrum-half he is gobby. I think he will be all right though with the pack I’ve picked in front of him.
10. Charlie Hodgson – The best fly-half I’ve played with so far in my career. He likes to play flat to the line and his kicking game out of hand is just superb.
11. Semesa Rokoduguni – He is an absolute power house. He can either step you or run over the top of you depending on how he feels.
12. Luke McAlister – I played with the former All Black when he came to Sale after the 2007 World Cup. He can distribute like a fly-half or go route one if needed. He also has MASSIVE quads.
13. Jonathan Joseph – Crazy skills. JJ is rapid and a very good defender. Pleased he is showing everyone what he can do on the international stage with England after doing it for so long at Bath.
14. Jason Robinson – He needs no explanation.
15. Nick Abendanon – The best full-back I’ve played with. He glides through gaps and is as hard as nails. He should have more England caps.
