Sharks in the market for Wallaby Latu

could bring bad boy Tolu Latu to the this summer after he expressed an interest in returning to Europe after spending this season back in Australia.

The Tongan-born hooker, who spent two and a half seasons in the Top 14 with Stade Francais, returned to his former employers NSW Waratahs after being freed by the -based outfit at the end of last season.

Latu is on the market for a move to the Premiership after only signing a deal for the 2023 Super Pacific campaign, and the Sharks have expressed an interest in signing him.

Wallaby Latu, who has won 22 Test caps his spell in , was clouded in controversy on and off the pitch. He was sent off twice, picked up an 11-week ban, and caught drink driving.

This week, the Sharks confirmed the signing of utility forward Ernst van Rhyn from the , as revealed by Blindside at the start of the month.

The only other player confirmed as heading to Salford this summer is centre Sam Bedlow who is returning to the club from Bears, and boss Alex Sanderson is believed to want more recruits.

The Sharks are losing a hooker with international Ewan Ashman returning north of the border to link up with Steve Diamond’s .

Ashman had a loan spell in 2019 without making a first-team appearance, and his departure could open the door for the arrival of Latu.
