Ealing close in on Ospreys merger

Ealing Trailfinders are close to completing the paperwork for a merger with the Ospreys, which will see them play in the United Rugby Championship next season.
Blindside broke the news a couple of weeks ago that it was the Ospreys that the Championship leaders were speaking to about a merger after their bid for promotion to the Premiership was knocked back.
The deal now has support from the URC board while Ealing are ready to release players who only have an option for next season because, under the agreement, they must sign at least 13 Ospreys players.
