ON THE BLINDSIDE
Bath are ready to join the hunt for Worcester and Scotland loosehead Rory Sutherland as they seek an injury replacement for Beno Obano, who recently had an operation on a knee injury that he suffered in a defeat to Bristol on the opening weekend of the season.
Bath had wanted to sign Argentina’s Mayco Vivas as injury cover for Obano, who missed a large part of last season with an ACL injury, but they missed out to Gloucester.
Lions star Sutherland, could become available if the Warriors are forced out of business and Bath have been quick to enquire about his availability.
Sutherland, who joined the Warriors in 2021, had been attracting interest from Castres, one of the few Top 14 clubs looking for a loosehead with most French sides needing a tighthead.
Bath, who have lost all three of their Premiership games this season, will face stiff competition for Sutherland’s services from the URC.
Ulster have expressed an interest while it is understood that Glasgow are keeping tabs on him and could move to take him back to Scotland, where he spent seven seasons playing for Edinburgh before joining the Warriors.
