I ONLY arrived in England, where my mother was born, in the April of 2001, so to make the England squad just two years later was a real source of personal pride. I didn’t know the implications at the time but I would go on to become a World Cup winner, meet the Queen and the Pope, and be awarded an MBE, something that I could only ever dream of.
