I MUST admit, every time England face France, it brings back memories of the games I played and the respect I have for the French players and Federation.
The first capped game for me, Micky Skinner and Will Carling, was against France – despite the fact we had played for England in other games. But playing the likes of Spain, Italy the USA etc. were not deemed important enough to get a cap because they weren’t part of the foundation eight Unions.
