Fierce rivalry with Loughborough produced rugby of highest order

There were 19 annual St Luke’s College v Loughborough College challenge matches before St Luke’s became absorbed by Exeter University and the fixture changed a little.
Of course, they continued to meet in a different guise if and when Exeter ever played Loughborough in the old UAU and, ironically, the first of those meetings was in 1979 when the two teams reached the final. More recently, they have been regular combatants in high quality BUCS Super League encounters, often held at Exeter Chiefs’ Sandy Park ground.
But these are the 19 games that forged the legend of the fixture.
