AMONGST the most illustrious Streatham and Croydon Old Boys is none other than England prop and Rugby Paper columnist Jeff Probyn whe enjoyed a few enjoyable formative seasons in the front row there in the 1970s.
“The club was borderline first class back then with a really strong fixture list and I joined them from Old Albanians as a teenager,” he said.
“I had finished as the Old Albanians top scorer the previous season – as a 17-year-old loosehead prop – and took that as a message I should perhaps be playing at a slightly higher level.
