THIS column has been at the forefront of lionising the Championship over the years, highlighting the massive disservice to the English game generally the RFU and Premiership Rugby have done by marginalising England’s second tier.
Elitism has been the by-word with Exeter the last unfashionable side to be fully accepted into the cosy club.
The doors have now been slammed shut with virtually all but the most ambitious crushed and terminally discouraged.
