NEITHER myself or Steve Mills, the Gloucester captain, really knew what to do after we’d drawn 12-all in the final of the 1982 John Player Cup. Eventually, we made our way up the steps at Twickenham and lifted the cup together, it was all a bit surreal.
I was fortunate to win the coin toss and we got to keep the cup for the first six months which was nice because we were able to show it off at the club dinner the following week. By the time the press conference with the two captains had finished a fair bit of time had passe...
