If it’s hyperbole you’re after, then Rugby Australia’s CEO, Andy Marinos, is your man. Formerly at SANZAAR for five years, he oversaw a number of iterations of the troubled Super Rugby competition.
He was in charge when the Jaguares and Sunwolves joined in 2016, and then a couple of years later when two South African franchises and the Western Force were unceremoniously ditched. Each time a change was made, Marinos was out there proclaiming how it was a great move for Super Rugby, and now, having jumped ship to Rugby Australia, he’s still at it.
