WHEN Bill Sweeney and Conor O’Shea briefed the media this week on the terms of reference for the RFU debrief panel which will decide whether Eddie Jones stays or goes as England coach, they should have had a clear mission statement.
It should have started with naming who will be on the panel – which is due to report in mid-April – and should then have emphasised that the RFU would reserve judgement until the panel’s report had been received and and its findings and recommendations consid- ered carefully.
