BEAUDEN Barrett being picked at full-back for the Blues, rather than fly-half is one of the riddles of Super Rugby Aotearoa.
Perhaps it is because new All Black coach Ian Foster sees the gifted play-maker at 15, just as his predecessor Steve Hansen did when he installed Richie Mo’unga at 10.
Maybe it has something to do with Barrett being too much of a hitor- miss goalkicker, and that all New Zealand’s remaining best marksmen are fly-halves.
If that is the case, it is a very good reason for international coaches to ensure your only goalkicking option is not at fly-half.
