One good game does not deserve a Test cap

THERE’S been plenty of entertainment in the opening weeks of the season, but one thing that rankles is that every time any England-qualified player has anything approaching a good performance, he is flagged-up as warranting an international cap.
This may be straying into grumpy old man territory, but let’s get something straight before the season hits full stride. One good game does not make a Premiership player an international contender.
International rugby is about the best competing against the best, not a half-hatched dress rehearsal in which cherished international jerseys...
