As a confident 18- year-old seemingly in control of his own destiny, Connor Tupai has enjoyed a rugby upbringing few young men can dream of. The son of legendary Saints and Bedford enforcer Paul, his first big rugby memory aged five was parading New Zealand rugby’s coveted Ranfurly Shield around his school, whilst three years later he was often found knocking a ball about after training at Franklin’s Gardens with the likes of Carlos Spencer, Bruce Reihana and Mark Robinson.
