THE notion of Worcester Warriors being bought by the Scottish Rugby Union is one that the RFU, the Premiership, and European Professional Club Rugby should kick into touch smartly. While you can understand the benefits to the SRU of owning a club in a highly competitive league like the Premiership so they can develop Scottish players, it would also reward the SRU for their failure to build a truly competitive base north of the border.
Scottish rugby needs to invest in its own clubs and structure first and foremost, not piggyback the Premiership.
