BUCS Super Rugby returned this week in the wake of a breakthrough 2017 season.
Tournament organizers couldn’t have dreamed of the standards set last year, with players like Sam Skinner and Seb Negri graduating to pro contracts at Exeter Chiefs and Benetton respectively.
The league aims to give young players the opportunity to play National standard rugby, without sacrificing their desire to pursue degrees. An increasing number of Premiership and Championship clubs are starting to acknowledge this, forging partnerships with university programs.
