Leaving the parental home at 16 to live with strangers was not easy for Jamie Blamire but the Newcastle hooker knew it was something he had to do for his dream of becoming a professional rugby player to come true.
Growing up in Workington, Blamire was picked up by the Falcons three years ago and was offered a place at the club’s AASE program at Gosforth Academy which meant a two-hour commute to his new school so Blamire decided to take the plunge and left Cumbria.
