HAVING seen Ryan Burrows, their best forward, sign for next season, Carnegie could be set to lose their most dangerous back with interested in lightningquick winger/full-back Jonah Holmes.

Leicester are looking to strengthen options on the flanks having been left exposed by injuries to wingers, JP Pietersen and Telusa Veainu.

Holmes has scored 45 tries in 79 appearances in his four seasons at Carnegie.

Carnegie have recently added Newcastle playmaker Tom Catterick, sacked utility back Tom Arscott and prop Matt Beesley to their squad in time for their play-off push.

Catterick’s Newcastle team-mate, Dom Waldouck, was another target but he has managed to arrange a deal with the Falcons to spend the first two months of next season studying at Oxford University before returning to the club.

■NICK HAINING could be the next member of Jersey’s much-vaunted pack to move to a bigname club.

Front-rowers Harry Williams, Elvis Taione and Sam Lockwood plus No.8 Guy Thompson have all stepped up a level in recent years, while tight-head Simon Kerrod has signed for next season.

Haining’s two-year deal with the Reds comes to an end this summer and are said to be among clubs interested in him.

The 26-year-old No.8 has scored 17 tries in 48 appearances since moving to St Peter in 2014.
