Deacon has designs on top job…but not just yet

Louis Deacon led England to the inaugural WXV 1 title in New Zealand and having had a taste for the hot seat, the interim head coach is not ready for his tenure to end.
The former Leicester lock, who won 29 England caps between 2005-11, filled in for John Mitchell while the former All Blacks boss was at the men’s World Cup as Japan’s defence coach.
Deacon led the Red Roses to comprehensive back-to-back victories in warm up matches over Canada before guiding England to three consecutive wins in the WXV over Australia, Canada and hosts New Zealand.
