SONNY Bill Williams made his long-awaited Blues debut yesterday after nearly a year on the sidelines but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Auckland franchise from losing 26-20 to the Highlanders in Dunedin.
The code-hoping superstar came off the bench in the 54th minute, eight months after rupturing his Achilles tendon at the Rio Olympics playing for the All Blacks’ Sevens.
He made one lightning break and offload to nearly set up a try but to no avail as the Highlanders dominated the closing stages.
