Italian flanker Sebastian Negri has thanked prop Ellis Genge for alerting the officials that he had been knocked out in Sunday’s fixture in Rome.

Replacement Negri had been knocked out in a collision just 16 minutes after coming onto the pitch.

Once Genge called attention to Negri’s condition, the 27-year-old received medical attention and was driven from the pitch on a stretcher.

England’s Jack Nowell had a similarly short stint on the pitch in England’s 0-33 victory in Rome after he failed a Assessment ten minutes into the match.

Nowell was making his first England start in 1065 days.

A doctor came on the pitch to examine Nowell and told referee Damon Murphy he wanted to wait until the independent doctor in the stands had reviewed footage of the collision.

Murphy ordered the sides to play on, allowing Nowell to continue for a short time before the independent doctor pulled him off for a head injury assessment which he later failed.

Its unknown how long Nowell will be out of action for. He will need to pass the six stage of the return to play protocols before returning to full training.
