‘Cheating’ French rile Howley in prop row

ROB HOWLEY believes France went against the spirit of rugby with the way they replaced prop Uini Atonio during the 20 minutes of over-time.
Atonio was replaced by starting prop Rabah Slimani in the 80th minute, with France insisting he needed to undergo a Head Injury Assessment. Referee Wayne Barnes asked Atonio if he was fit to continue, to which audio from the official’s microphone indicates he said he had a bad back.
French doctor Philippe Turblin ran on to the field and removed Atonio from the field. Slimani then came on.
