FRANCE made it three from three over Wales in this last weekend of the Six Nations with their women’s side claiming a convincing bonus-point in Brive last night.
France made a good start and Jessy Tremouliere put them in front with a penalty on her second attempt four minutes in.
But Wales got their hands on the ball and they raised the stakes with a try from No.8 Shona Powell- Hughes from the back of the first scrum of the game.
The conversion was missed which allowed France and Tremouliere to go back in front when the full-back slotted a penalty after being tackled high.
Audrey Forlani extended the hosts’ lead with a try from close range soon after and, with Tremouliere once again on target from the tee, they took an eightpoint buffer into the break.
Keen to keep their grip on the game, France picked things up with an early try in the second half as Caroline Ladagnous crossed for her fifth try of the tournament.
Amy Evans kept Wales in the game with two tries from close range which, despite Caroline Boujard scoring France’s third inbetween, brought the visitors back to within eight points again.
But France weren’t going to be denied and Patricia Caricaburu went over from close range to finally put the game to bed and seal the bonus-point win with just over ten minutes to go.
Tremouliere’s form off the tee continued with her fourth conversion and she completed her fine evening with a late try in the corner.
