IRELAND survived a late onslaught to hold on for their second one-point in the championship.
Camped on the Irish line, Italy threw all they had left but Ireland held strong, and like in Scotland secured a tight but important victory to remain unbeaten.
The first half was a tight affair with the Irish taking a narrow 6-3 lead into the break after Johnny McPhilips slotted two penalties to better Antonio Rizzi’s effort.
