Scotland’s exciting, hungry squad were arguably the talk of the tournament on the opening day, hammering Tonga and Malaysia to sit top of Pool B overnight.
Tonga were undoubtedly the weakest of the Pacific Island trio at this competition, but the way that Scotland despatched them in a 41-0 drubbing, that saw US-born 22-yearold Femi Sofolarin bag a first-half hat-trick, showed they meant business with a quarter-final berth definitely the goal.
