Argentina dominated the hosts in the second round of the u20 Rugby championship, as they won 31-12. The Boks couldn’t deal with their physicality especially their rolling maul which was a huge weapon for them.
On being able to beat South Africa in their back yard, Argentinian captain, Efrain Elias said “It’s very special, we lost last year here and in Australia so this time it was special.”
Argentina opened the scoring in just the third minute through hooker Juan Greising Revol, who was at the back of a driving maul.
They then established the maul as a weapon again to drive up the field, followed by some strong carries and then came back to the blindside to number 8 Juan Pedro Bernasconi, who had the space to run freely to score in the corner.
Then for a third time the rolling maul was effective for Argentina as they powered over the Bok forwards to score for a third time and Revol got his second of the game.
The Argentinians were beating the South Africans at their own game as they went in 17-0 at half time.
The second half started with more unfortune for South Africa as a mistake from their own lineout five metres out saw Elias steal the ball and score for Argentina on the 47th minute.
The baby Boks finally managed to get some points for themselves gaining a penalty try from their own rolling maul, this also saw Felipe Bruno Schmidt sent to the bin.
Argentina survived the ten minutes and once back to a full complement, Juan Penous extended their lead with a great one-handed pickup and score of the bouncing ball.
South Africa got a late consolation score through Bathoble Hleknai to finish the game.
