New Zealand ended their difficult campaign with victory against Georgia, whose eighth place finish was still their best-ever at an U20 World Championship.
The Baby Blacks’ victory meant they avoided the tournament being their lowest-ever outright finish in the competition, although coming in seventh was still the six-time winners’ joint worst result.
Evidently fired up from their surprise defeat against Australia last time out, New Zealand started superbly, showcasing the pace and skill that has not been present enough in this year’s tournament.
