THERE have been more U-bends in the Eddie Jones succession saga than then you could find in a plumbing warehouse, and the latest contractual position offered to the England head coach by new RFU chief executive, Bill Sweeney, is the loosest – and potentially most lucrative – of the lot.
It effectively not only confirms Jones as head coach until 2021, irrespective of how well England do at the 2019 World Cup, but also opens the way for Jones to serve a second four-year term up to and including the 2023 World Cup in France.
