Rugby Union has been at the crossroads before but, in my time as an international player and, post-retirement, as a supporter – and as a parent of three young players coming through the ranks – Ican never remember this sport needing such an urgent fix.
It is beset by serious problems, and if action is not taken very soon by the powers-that-be – whether World Rugby or national unions like the RFU – the scenario could quickly become desperate.
