Replacement Emma Sing ran in from distance to score the crucial try to give the reigning Premiership champions a winning start to their season.
The England full-back’s try by the posts on 66 minutes saved Gloucester, with the much-improved Loughborough forwards dominating the half.
It didn’t take the West Country side long to get their first points on the board, winning the early set-piece engagements before a quick break on the right from wing Pip Hendy set up Mia Venner to dot down.
