MERTHYR continued their perfect start in the Welsh Premiership with an 11-try 71-0 thrashing of Newcastle Emlyn.
The Ironmen ran in six tries in the first half and then five more in the second at Dol Wiber in what was another crushing win.
Jack Perkins and Jack Kathrens both helped themselves to try braces with Daf Land, Ellis Shipp, Finn Baker, Ryan Hughes, Daniel Phillips and
Dafydd Thomas also getting their names on the scoresheet.
This latest victory means Merthyr have maximum points and have scored a total of 196 points across their three wins so far.
Next up is a home clash next weekend with Ystrad Rhondda – who themselves bounced back from a heavy defeat at Cardiff Met with a 38-35 bonus-point home win over Bonymaen to move into second spot.
Liam Wiggins’ bagged a brace with Josh Willams, Logan Hutchings, Jarrad Llewellyn and Iestyn Griffiths the other Ystrad try scorers.
Lewis Williams added four conversions.
Meanwhile having started the season with back-to-back wins, Newbridge slipped to their first defeat of the campaign, beaten 25-13 at home by Neath.
Ki Morgan, twice, and Kieran Charles scored the Neath tries. Steff Williams kicked two conversions and two penalties.
Stuart Vokes got the Newbridge try, converted by Eamon Rees. There was also a penalty each from Rees and Robbie Turley.
Pontypridd made it two wins from two – but were made to work hard for it at Llangennech, only coming away narrow 14-13 victors. Skipper Cally James and Joe Miles scored tries, with Jacob Symes and Sam Talbot adding the respective conversions.
Steff Marshall scored all of the hosts’ points, converting his own try and kicking two penalties.
Elsewhere Bargoed were 19-0 home victors over Narbarth, while Brecon recorded their first league victory 4027 at Cross Keys.
Ryan Davies, Aneurin James, Geraint Clarke and a penalty try secured maximum points for Brecon. Jake Newman added three conversions and four penalties.
