MERTHYR ran in 12 tries as they dismantled Cross Keys 80-15 at the Wern to make it two from two to sit top of the Welsh Premiership.
Jacob Lloyd scored a first-half hat-trick while Finn Baker helped himself to a treble in the second as both continued their impressive starts to the campaign to help the Ironmen run riot.
Leon Greggains was at the double while Sam Cross, Ben Jones, Daf Land and Peter Richmond also got in on the act. Jones sent over 10 conversions to complete a resounding win for Merthyr.
Newbridge also made back-to-back wins after they triumphed 28-15 at Llangennech.
Josh Thomas’ brace and tries and Cian Jones and Luke Morgan secured maximum points for the visitors. Robbie Turley kicked a conversion and penalty, with Eammon Rees also sending over a penalty.
Bonymaen are up and running after scoring six tries to see off Newcastle Emlyn 40-17.
Jordan Farley, Garan Williams, Olly Davis, Brandon Owens, Rhys Leonard and Gareth Andrew were all on the scoresheet. Lawrence Thomas kicked five conversions.
Pontypridd, who had a bye last weekend, opened their league campaign by defeating Bargoed 34-19 with a bonus point at Sardis Road.
Oli Shepherd, Joe Davies, captain Cally James and a penalty try were on the scoresheet for Pontypridd. Jacob Symes added three conversions and two penalties.
Elsewhere a hat-trick from right wing Dylan Scott inspired Cardiff Met to a 59-13 home victory over Ystrad Rhondda.
Henry Kirwan was at the double while Josh Carrington, Alex Terry and Evan Sheldon also dotted down for Met as they recorded their first win of the season. Steffan Crimp landed eight conversions and a penalty.
Neath bounced back from their opening defeat by Merthyr to win 19-12 at Brecon with Jacob Blackmore among the try scorers for the Welsh All Blacks.
