National One round-up

MOUNTAIN Ash made hay while the sun shone as they ran in 16 tries in a 104-0 annihilation of Barry in Admiral Division 1 East Central.

It was a win that contained three hat-tricks, from Jarrod Cushion, Callum Hall and Alex Hughes, and Hall ended up with a match haul of 33 points as he also added nine conversions.

To their credit, Barry travelled with a depleted squad but kept fighting for the whole game.

Mountain Ash are now top of the table ahead of Rumney, who have played two more games. Their unbeaten run was extended to eight games and they meet the only other unbeaten team in the division, Treorchy, at home on 14 .

Bonymaen kept alive their hopes of pipping Skewen to the Admiral Division 1 West Central title thanks to a 31-24 win at Glynneath.

It took two late tries to salvage the maximum five points for them after the home side had battled back from a nine-point deficit at the break to lead 24-19 going into the quarter.

It means Bony cut the gap on the unbeaten league leaders to six points and still have a game in hand.

Skewen didn’t play at the weekend and can win the title when they complete their ten match schedule when they host fourth placed Dunant on Saturday. Bony still have to fit in two games before the end of the season.

Nantyffyllon had a late try from full-back Connor Griffiths to thank for their 19-17 home win over Athletic after they let a 14-10 interval lead slip.

Outside-half Drew Price kicked three penalties for Nanty and his half-back partner Ben Davies notched the first try of the game when he sniped over after multiple driving mauls.

The visitors hit back to outscore their hosts by three tries to one, but missed with three kicks at goal. The win moved Nanty up to seventh.
